Our newly acquired '92 4.0 had been in dry store for 8 years; it sits on original type Pirelli P600 235/60 tyres; an examination of the date codes reveals that the tyres are quite old although there is plenty of tread.
All XJS folk will know that P600s are not always easily available and come at a premium price; only same-sized alternatives are cheap budget ranges.
We have noted that Falken ZE914 is a usable alternative but in 225/60 rather than 235/60.
**Has anybody used these and, if so, how do they look compared to the original Pirellis?**
We are a little concerned that the effective reduction in overall diameter (due to the sidewall being 60% of 10mm less) is 4.25% which is outside of the normally allowable parameters; may also result in an over-reading speedo and a variation in the auto-change speeds.
Details of any experiences would be welcomed, thank you in anticipation
