Hello everyone,
New member here from the US.
As someone else had written in their introduction, I always loved the XJ-S since I was a kid.
I remember seeing these on the highway passing by with that V12 logo on the back and I knew I had to have one.
So after many years of owning different vehicles, I finally decided it was time to find one that I can drive and enjoy but also get some wrench time in.
I purchased my car before the covid lockdown started and have still only seen pictures of it to date!
I was lucky enough to have some family members close enough to the vehicle to go pick it up and look after it over the past few months.
This week I will be taking a long road trip to visit family and pick it up and then make the long drive back in it if everything checks out OK.
Some interesting history:
The car was originally purchased in Saudi Arabia. After an unknown amount of time (to me), it was eventually taken to the UK to get fitted with the US parts to make it compliant to bring in to the US.
There is a write-up from the original owner kept with the car that I have not had the pleasure to read yet but it could be very interesting...
Somewhere in the early 2000s, the plus torque kit from AJ6 Engineering was purchased and installed.
My first introduction to single malt scotch was a Macallan 25 year and spoiled me for life. Having never driven an XJ-S (or any Jaguar for that matter), my first drive in this vehicle may have the same effect.
What is currently intriguing to me is the year of the vehicle is listed on the registration papers as a 1981 model year. However, after reading the JDHT list of serial numbers and model years, I am becoming convinced the car is a 1983 MY.
I am looking forward to seeing the car in about 2 days time and learning more about it in the next week (and finally getting to drive it).
I have read the July newsletter and enjoyed it very much. Thank you to everyone that puts in the time and effort to share their knowledge and also those that organize everything here. I am anxious to learn more here and eventually sharing the knowledge as I learn more about these beautiful jags.
And finally, the car:

Beautiful car! You have got some great roads in your countryside!
Enjoy mate!🇬🇧🇺🇸
