Hi, off a whim I decided to open the XJS news letter and subsequently contemplate my project car... My dad brought me an XJS as a restoration project for finishing uni a few years back. The issue is it's been sat in his field for the last few years without me having the time, experience or space to work on it...
It's a pre-he 5.3ltr manual, with what looks like a TWR or hyper body kit on. Does anyone know if this is original? Or what kit it is? I quite like it ... Also apparent someone from mungo Jerry owned it once, not sure truth of that though...
Back to the reason for my post... I really don't know what to do with it! I'm looking for some advice as I'm torn between these options;
1) research it's history and eventually restore it bit by bit (could be too big and expensive for my first project)
2) sell it on and buy something needing less attention 😪 (probably more realistic)
3) create a kit car from its donar parts... (Heathen!)
My brief history this the car has been it's never started, it turned over but it had a grounding spark/ticking problem as it appeared a squirrel used to live in the engine bay... That's as far as I made it before life took over!
I'd love to work on it myself or start to understand a cost of how much to make it road worthy... Or what I could do to see if there is any heritage that makes it special? Or if I'm viewing this with rose tinted glasses and need to be realistic...
Cars located near Cambridge if anyone can recommend someone I can chat to about my options/ideas... I'd love to get it MOT worthy!!
A few photos are below... Apologies if they're huge I'm struggling to write this on my phone...
Many thanks in advance, love to hear your advice
