i wouldent have thought the bumper would have to come off for that,
those chrome finishing trim pieces sit on top of the main bumper spar thats underneath the covering chromed finisher panel
the early pre facelift cars have "clips" that hold those chrome finishing trims down onto the top of the rigid bumper spar
i would have a good look with a torch at the undersides of the bumper you may well find attaching screws or bolts underneath that release the clips that HOLD the chrome finishing pieces on the tops
its a job i havent had to do myself , but looking in a Jaguar XJ-S parts manual for pre facelift cares the chrome central top piece and bumper corner qtr pieces are definately held on to the bumper spar iself with "clips," which in turn will have to be attached to the beam itself with some kind of screw or bolt which ought to be visible from the underside of the actual bumper spar piece?
