Hi Everyone,
I have a 1978 XJS that has always been very reliable, last week after a short trip I left the engine running while I opened the garage door, all of a sudden the engine stopped just as though it had been turned off, no coughing or spluttering just stopped. Now it won't start at all, when you initially turn it over it fires once then nothing. I have a auto electrician looking at it who is coming back Monday. He has found a few cracked wires on the injection loom and now thinks it could be the crank sensor but can't find one! does this engine have one? as when looking for parts they only list crank sensors for later cars. I have fuel to the injectors, I have a spark at the plugs, the injectors fire if you rotate the throttle linkage with the ignition on, reset the inertia sensor by the door pillar and I have tried shorting out the coolant temperature sensor. Has anybody had a similar experience and could help please.
Thanks
Gary
