Hi All, I am trying to purchase a pair of bonnet struts and the company supplying them has asked what the fixed force for the struts needs to be, they claim they can produce the struts between 40N and 700N, obviously I do not have a clue. Would any of you lovely people come across this before and have an idea of what the figure should be?
Alternatively do you have any recommendations for alternative suppliers.
Thanks in advance.
Paul
Hello Paul, don't know is the short answer (though I could probably find out from Heritage / Classic). However, SGS Engineering supply replacement parts for £16.79 incl. VAT ea., see www.sgs-engineering.com. Not bought any bonnet struts myself but have had bespoke from them for the hatchbacks. Highly recommended, professional guys. Hope this helps.
Thanks Mike, i'll give then a go.

Hi Paul, after I'd written that I just happened to see a David Manners advert for the same part they do as OE replacement. Not sure of the price but they've sourced the parts and you can get a 10% discount with XJS Club and/or JEC. Speaking of which, looking on the forum there, someone has answered the specifics of the technical spec. already so worth a look if you need the answer still.
first thing i ever bought when i started restoring my 1981 H E back in 1994 was a pair of non original jaguar bonnet struts made to EXACT jaguar specifications the add said !
within ONE week fitted to the car the bonnet was closing when left AGAIN cheap struts are no good i I bought the Jaguar originals and PAID the price,!
that was the first and last time i bought an "aftermarket" part for MY car so regardless of what sellers claim be AWARE with that one regards .
